DEKALB MARKET ANNOUNCES JULY 2012 PROGRAMMING INCLUDING JULY 15 EVENT WITH AFRIKA BAMBAATAA

New York, NY (July 12, 2012) -- Dekalb Market, presented by  Urban Space and Youngwoo & Associates, is hosting an eclectic mix of events throughout July including the Rong Music Summer Block Party with Afrika Bambaataa on July 15 from 5:00-10:00pm. Tickets are $20.

This Saturday, July 14, Dekalb Market will be the go-to destination for "Family
Day" with entertainment for all ages, including face paining, a bouncy castle, live music, a petting zoo, raffle giveaways with $50 Dekalb Market gift certificates for all your shopping needs and special family friendly product highlights from various vendors. Live DJ sets and music includes DJ Michna and local bands from 12noon-5:00pm. Entry is free.

The multi-purpose, cultural destination in Downtown Brooklyn will also feature a slew of new weekly events including Ladies Night, Baby Meetup and Happy Hour at The Get Down, Dekalb Market's beer and wine garden, with local craft beer, wine and sangria. Additional summer events include fun, family-oriented curated music, art, food and film experiences such as Rooftop Films, "Down & Derby" roller-skating, live music, dancing and even yoga, in addition to the usual offerings every day at the Market.

Open seven days a week, locals and visitors can now spend a leisurely morning, afternoon or evening while enjoying a Robicelli Cupcake along with a cup of Joe's Coffee or partake in Maharlika's Filipino street food while browsing among the additional 45 retail shops including Etsy Collective, YakBlak, Hank & JoJo, Harriet's Alter Ego and Limegreen.

Situated over an entire square block - voted best New York Architecture of 2011 by New York Observer - Dekalb Market is built from recycled shipping containers converted into over 60 food & retail shops which frame a distinct space for this year's outdoor events and programs.
