COOL V - PRESENTS SOME REAL TALK WITH TERRESA RAILFORD & HOT VIDEO BY RHYMEFEST

What's Crack'n Peoples!

Now just this morning I got a call from my homie "Teressa" telling me this cat was mad funny this morning complaining about how PR and marketing should work for free! WDF are these niglets talking about? It kills me how disrespectful these cats are and DON'T see it yet complain when we ask for respect. So below is the post that started it all.

PLANET ILL WRITES:

Musicians have historically been a reflection of whatever cultural
condition is prevalent in their era. Perhaps it isn’t a surprise given
today’s lack of culture and devaluing of intellect that we have an
inordinate amount of soulless seemingly stupid musicians who serve as
puppets for the furthering of comm...ercial interests. Not a tirade or a
soapbox speech, merely an observation. Planet Ill is here to show not
what is always shown, but what is also present: rappers who aren’t brain
dead.

George Seals WRITES

That's the attitude that I'm referring to, the older generation has to understand that the cultural gap that is happening right now because of lack of connection between the old and new hip hop generations. That's why a lot of the older hip hop heads don't like or understand the new music because they are not a part of it. That's why classic hip ... See Morehop aint selling now. The new fans gravitate to a lil wayne more than lets say a common or a rhymefest because the values that were instilled in common and rhymefest were lost because of the generation / communication gap in hip hop. We don't expect anybody to help us in fact we are rebelling against the old system that's why you have so many rappers who spit bullshit to get a check because it aint about hip hop no more. Its about money and a lifestyle, i say that because when you're broke ppl don't wanna work with you regardless of how hot u are. People always wan to hit you with this "resource" shit, thats a fany word for where is your budget. Dopeboys have money so they use their "resources" to get on. Thats why you hear so many of them on the radio now. The mass signing of these type of artists was done on purpose by major labels to change the environment and face of the game. Either way you look at it the lack of culture you are talking about is a lack of communication thus we have a gap in hip hop. People got greedy and lost sight of what Hip Hop is all about. I know its a "million dollar entertainment industry" like you said but that's they problem people treat it that way instead of culture and art that's why you see less and less culture.

MY PARTNER WRITES BACK

Teressa Raiford

Listen to the video.... the founders of the Industry created a corporate business for us to use and develop, not for us to be used to develop. Its a business like Wal mart, I cannot go into any of Sam Waltons store and get food off the shelf, take it home, cook it and then decide to pay for it if it taste good. I have to go there and buy it. I ... See Moream not saying Hip Hop is for sale I am merely pointing out that businesses in this industry will not thrive if we don't do BUSINESS! if you want to start a company in any type of industry you will need to Plan, get Capital and market and Sale your products and services or you do not have a Business. Hip Hop is over 25 years old and as someone who has been in the industry working since 1985 I don't support bad business planning.

NOW FOR MY RESPONSE: WHICH ENDED IT ALL!!!!

Cool Vibez
This is one conversation I HAD to jump in! This aggravates the hell out of me NOT one MC I know can go into Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Radio Shack or Guitar Center and get free food or equipment (Unless they are the spokesperson) based on their artistry. So why do these same artist they that stuff with small up-coming businesses? Keep in mind These same artists support large corporations and people who don't give a DAYUM about them or the music or industry they are in YET NEVER complain! However when someone takes does take a genuine vested interest in helping promote that artist(s) or their brand these same people get hit with a "Wait Till I BLOW UP"comment and usually When they do "ON 2 THE NEXT" with no loyalty and a it's just business Move! Cmon Son "Stop The Madness"You artists will have no problem buying studio equipment, wasting thousands or hundreds making it rain on a strippers ass cheeks, rims, gold teeth & jewelry or the most in style these days fronting & Paying for "Quote on Quote "Music Conferences and award shows whose focus is actually 5% on the music these days and you WON'T COMPLAIN one bit!!!!

That's some some BULLSHIT!!!!! I have a problem with that Mos Def!! We always talk about "Keep It Real" Every time but when some one really does these same "Asshole MC's" F@ck it up! Case in point "Jack The Rapper" I haven't been to a conference yet that catered to the MC more! What Happened some ignant fools started a fight in the one conference that was created to help them out! Not convinced yet? Another case in point is these same artists will break their neck to be involved in BS so hard they are willing to make complete idiots out of themselves on national TV EX: Puffy's "Making The Band" when we already seen where all of their past artist(s) NOTICE THE PLURAL ! HAVE ENDED UP!

This is that "Bobby Boshay" that we need to STOP! Artists WORD OF ADVICE- Your publicist, Your agent, Your marketing agent and Your promo/strret team IS JUST AS IMPORTANT as your equipment to ensure YOUR SUCCESS!!! You don't MC for free so WE DONT WORK FOR FREE! That's like someone asking you to do a World Tour for the love of Hip-Hop would you? If so how would you feed your kids or pay your T-Mobile or Sprint or whatever cell company you go threw. ... See More

Being a business has it's costs "EVERY" business does! Notice the key word in the statement The music - "BUSINESS" and that's what we have to do more of. Most people have no problem helping new artists but it's the approaches we hate - the cocky as hell attitude or the don't give a f@ck fuck u pay me and when im done im throwing yo ass away(The famous what can u do for me VS how can we help each other attitude) we get as vets that turns us 100% off!!! Note we are down to trade ONLY if you have something of EQUAL value you wouldn't trade in your hummer for a pinto would you? So why should we?

1st be humble, 2nd respect is key and most important when someone does help you a kind "Thank You" or a show of gratitude might work. If you've called us 10000000 times to work your project a phone call is the LEAST you can do and like you our kids got to eat so a kind gesture would work even better!

I know I probably upset 50% of the music industry with this one but so what Imma tell it like it T-I IZ!!!!

This has been a industry "Real Talk Response" brought to you by your boy boyee "Cool V" the industry insomniac!

RATED NEXT - "JUSTIN BIEBER" THSI KIDS GOT NEXT!!

He causes riots everywhere he goes, and my Mom loves him almost as much as I do!" sputters a blonde girl in a bubble-gum pink sweater, flanked by two other breathless tweens. You'd have to be on a serious pop-culture fast not to know which star they're kvelling over, but in any event, they let his name be heard-loudly. "Justin Bieeeberrr!"

Sleepy-eyed before, the crowd perks up. Not to the point of full-on "Biebermania" or anything. It is, after all, 10 o'clock on a Thursday morning, and of the hundreds packed into New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, roughly three dozen are kids who've managed to score VIP seats before taking their SATs. Bieber is performing at Nickelodeon's 2010 upfront presentation, where the youth-centric network is announcing its new slate of programming. After sitting attentively through pitches about "igniting fan position" and supercharging the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise, suited-up ad execs and tastemakers now hover curiously over their seats, necks craned, phones and Flip cams in hand, angling to grab a snippet of the most famous 16-year-old in the game.

Video: Justn talks about the total Biebermania that greets him whereever he goes.

"Your world is my world, and my heart is your heart," Bieber sings in a sweet tenor, perched on a stool and strumming the melody of his first hit, "One Time," on an acoustic guitar. Then he launches into his new single, "Baby," bounding through choreography, thwacking his drummer's kit, rapping Ludacris' guest verse and clutching his chest during swoon-worthy lines like, "We will nevah-evah-evah be apart." Afterward, Bieber sticks around to change the lives of a few brace-faced girls, who are hugging the lip of the stage and clutching their Converse in the hopes of an autograph.

"He-signed-my-shoes-and-my-arm-and-my-cell-phone," says Stephanie Mordoh, a breathless eighth grader from Westchester who's there with two friends. "He's just so talented and amazing." Bieber takes a few photos and on-camera questions. On the Jonas Brothers vs. Justin Bieber inter-fan beef (their shared initials are partly responsible, as anyone under 16 will tell you), he calmly says, "Our fans seem to fight and I don't know why. But I don't care, you know? It's whatever." Five minutes later, he's gone, whisked away by his handlers to the next appearance.

Since being plucked from his hometown of Stratford, Ontario, Bieber has grown from a 13-year-old with a popular YouTube account into a Taylor Swift-co-signed sensation, boasting sales and social-network stats that rival those of any Disney star. The difference between him and Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers, though, is that their careers were jump-started by TV shows.

"There are other artists who have platforms and then get to the musical space, and where that goes, no one really knows," Island Records president Steve Bartels says. "Yes, Justin is a phenom, but it's really backed up. He's got that viral cachet right now, but what he stands for at the end of the day is music. We're keeping our fingers crossed, obviously, but we think we have something here that has incredible longevity."

Bieber's debut album, "My World," was released last November on Island through the Raymond Braun Music Group (a 50/50 joint venture between R&B star Usher Raymond and Bieber's manager, Scott "Scooter" Braun). It arrived at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 with 137,000 copies and has since sold 998,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, a total likely boosted by iTunes' Complete My Album campaign. Four tracks-"One Time," "One Less Lonely Girl," "Favorite Girl" and "Love Me"-were released prior to the album's street date and have all charted, making Bieber the first solo artist to have four top 40 singles before the release of his debut album. All seven of the album's songs have charted since, adding up to 3.3 million in individual track sales.

HOT EVENT - INTRINSIC TAKES THE FILM INDUSTRY TO SXSW (WOW!)

"CLICK ON IMAGE FOR LARGER PICTURE"

DALLAS, USA – This is the 2nd year that the Grass Roots marketing firm Intrinsic Entertainment Group has attended the Music Conference in Austin, TX called South By Southwest. They will be interviewing artists, filmmakers and music industry professionals during the festival and sharing their successes, and ideas with Film Industry Network.

Last year Intrinsic had a renegade showcase with promotional partner Kanye West who did a Livstream concert at Levi’s Fort Fader. This event was inspired by the firm who with the visual concept developed by Francis Valejo was able to suggest that a G.O.O.D. Music showcase would be an amazing show for his fans and a great way to promote all of his label mates. Intrinsic had been partnered with West due to a management agreement for his back up singer Tony Williams. The firm actually ran a 36 country promotion to BRAND Williams. The concept of a global Video Contest and backstage documentary intrigued fans from around the world who attended the G.O.O.D. Music after parties in parts of the world like Monterrey, Rio de Brazil, Sao Paulo, Paris and the UK!
http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog the videos can still be seen on You Tube. The contest was extremely successful and the promo art by artist Francis Vallejo won the duo a Silver medal in the illustrator 47 Advertising annual competition.

This year Intrinsic has a new purpose on their trip to Austin. The firm has recently become an Associate member of the American Academy of recording Arts Industry better known as the Grammy’s. The firm has also been named as lead press correspondent for National Public Radio Music www.npr.org/music/ and will doing several meet and greets with artists, businesses and several companies throughout the weekend from March 18-21 and it will all be documented on the most popular sites in the Music, Film and Interactive media.

Intrinsic is scouting for new business opportunities as well as promotion of existing innovative clients like Twicketer a mobile ticketing company patented in over 200 countries with On Device Verification and Live Venu a live stream event broadcasting company based in San Francisco. Intrinsic is developing performance marketing products which will be implemented into the current infrastructure of both companies and plans to pitch partnerships with advertisers who want to reach the consumer base that the entertainment industry can give them access to. Another project on the table which will be kicking off this Summer is a production for the Junior Olympics in Summer 2010 the board chairs contacted the firm so a new production for the athletes could help the organization attract more attendees. The Intrinsic team reached out to Teen Star Keke Palmer and the rest will be HISTORY!

The Background:

It all began with a thundering baseline and an unmistakably classic phrase - "this or that." One of the most widely recognized songs in rap music history, the 1991 classic "The Choice is Yours" was hailed by VH1 in 2008 as one of the best rap songs of all time. The highly respected Queens emcee Dres, along with DJing partner-in-crime William "Mista Lawnge" McLean took the music industry by storm in the early 1990's as part of the groundbreaking collective Native Tongues. Penning such Billboard standouts as "Flavor of the Month" and "Strobelight Honey" for the duo's platinum-selling debut album A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing in 1992, Dres would continue to crank out the hits on the group's second release, Non Fiction. After a brief reunion with Mister Lawnge in 2000, Dres again set his sights on recording. He released the innovative online-only album 8WM/Novakane in 2007. Now he's back in the studio, writing the next chapter of his storied career. Dres' highly anticipated new project, From the Black Pool of Genius, out Spring 2010, promises to pair thought-provoking lyrics with astounding beats constructed by a corps of new and established beatmakers. They include Bean One, Showbiz, Tough Junkie, P. Locke, Urban Soul Music Group, and Willie Evans. He's also got an impressive line-up of guest stars, including De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Rhymefest, AZ, and Tough Junkie, among others. Leading up to the release of his next full-length, Black Sheep have released a precursor EP, From The Black Pool Of Genius: The Prelude, available now. From The Black Pool Of Genius will be available on April 6th.

Please contact Michelle or Dan if interested in talking with Black Sheep.

To the artists, music lovers and industry insiders that make up the OurStage community,

Since the inception of OurStage the founders have aspired to change the landscape of the music industry by finding a way to discover tomorrow’s stars. With your help we have been hugely successful at ranking the quality of talent within our arsenal of artists. With the help of our partners we have been fortunate enough to provide some of our most promising artists career enhancing opportunities. Now it’s time to raise the bar even higher.

Since February 1st you can discover the featured talent through downloads and interviews shared on mtvmusic.com and ourstage.com.

Since its premiere in 1981 MTV has had a profound impact on both the music industry and popular culture at large. This partnership heralds a shared vision to truly break the stars of tomorrow. It is a commitment that we look forward to making a reality. Now all we need is you.

NEW MUSIC & FREE DOWNLOAD - LITTEL BROTHER RETURNS

Critically acclaimed rap duo Little Brother are back and ready to takeover speakers for the final time together with their new album, LeftBack. Dropping on April 20th via Hall of Justus, LeftBack will mark the end of an illustrious career by partners in rhyme Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh. The album features production from the likes of Khyrsis, Denaun Porter, J.Bizness and guest vocals from Torae, Truck North, Jozeemo, Chaundon, Median, and more. The send-off for the North Carolina hip-hop heavyweights begins with the release of "Curtain Call," the poetically titled first single from LeftBack. Rapper Big Pooh sets the tone for the album by declaring that "this is it, the last monologue / last act in the play, you could say the epilogue." A booming synth line, driving bass and staccato drum pattern intertwine to provide the backdrop for the occasion, while Phonte drives home the album's message by rapping "You know we don't quit / but when it's curtain call then that's all you gonna get." The song "basically sums up the history of our career as Little Brother," says the duo. "This is the last first single you will hear from Little Brother."

Fans can expect further announcements from Little Brother, including tour info and other interesting developments on LeftBack's road to the release.
