Stay dreaming...why hot artists are slept on?

Once upon a rhyme and time, people used to turn on the radio in anticipation to hear their favorite popular songs and even get the chance to be exposed to new music. Fast forward to 2016, it seems that you find new music and even slept on songs that became overshadowed by music artists like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Kanye West, One Direction, Nicki Minaj, Drake & etc more so online via YouTube, SoundCloud, mixtapes sites (i.e. DatPiff, LiveMixtapes, HotNewHipHop, & etc) & various other sites. Part of the reason is what is considered hot music by the music industry.

Music is like cooking and eating good food. We have different tastes and preferences. Taste for different seasonings. The problem of the music industry dictating what good music is that it's like someone trying to tell you what food you like. You could be a vegan, allergic to seafood or have a different diet.

As a lover of good music of all genres, I go for lyrics, talent and good beats. Mainstream music sure it has a good beat but it lacks meaning and substance(what is the artist and song talking about? Do I related to it?). I'm an 80's baby I have seen my share of good music and even then we had our flops but the flops remained just that what they was.

I have found a lot of artists and even some major artists with slept on songs that never got radio airplay because of industry standards and politics. It was just by honest accident.

Just looking up different searches online such as maybe a remix version of a song because I became tired of hearing the same old song in the media. Artists such as Reva Devito, Olivia Louise, Luke Christopher, Chloe Martini, Lexy Panterra, Guordan Banks, & more. With the power of the Internet no long are people subjected to what they see Vevo, Sony Universal Music, Interscope, Apple Music, Spotify, Sirius XM Radio, Pandora or any major radio or major Internet radio app tells you what is hot and good music. Just like anything else, anyone is free to research breaking new music and even slept on songs that may have made or may have not made the album, EP or mixtape.

You can always occasionally check out our blog here for coverage of breaking new artists and groups that GOT NEXT but we also encourage you to always be on the lookout for slept on old or new music as well. You have the full power of net at your disposal so anything is possible. Good music is slept on because of the industry but also because we as citizens of the world allow it.
