NEW MUSIC - THADD WILLAIMS ( SHOUTS TO SHOD HARRIS & MIC FIEND FOR THE MUSIC HOMIE KEEP HUSTLING! )

INSTANT CLASSIC: CRABS IN A BARRELL

Once again this is the Instant Classic Shod Harris, first I want to shout out my team Mic Fiend Music and Undergroundfuzion.com. Now that I got that out the way, I would like to speak on an issue that I see almost everyday where Im from and thats the whole crab in a bucket mentality as far as the local music industry is concerned. Where im from there are just a few major acts that have blown up nationwide. Eventhough they are MAJOR acts there still isn't enough of them to make Virginia the next Hip Hop hot spot. So right now everyone and they momma (literally) are claiming they are going to put VA on the map and that they are putting the state on their back. What they aren't understanding is that one person can't do it. They are definitely going to need more than one person to do that. If that was the case, when the Clipse dropped Lord Willin VA would have been like New York right then and by the way that is one of my favorite albums. But that wasn't the case.

So now while people are claiming to be the hottest rapper to ever come from Virginia they are in the process of knocking down some of the other hot rappers in the area. This whole crabs in a bucket mentality has really been pissing me off for a while now. You would think that when someone has raised their profile that they would help that next hot artist in the own area to help get where they are at. Im guessing that some of those artists feel that the next artist coming up will take their spot. But you have to realize the way that movements are created is when ONE artist is getting a major buzz they will bring some of the hottest new artists from their region along with them (and im not talking about their homeboys, cousins or the niggas that carry their weed but actual rappers). If you look at it every major hiphop region over the past couple of years has had multiple of artists that have continued to release music. When Atlanta was first getting right in the early 2000s they had Ludacris, Outkast, T.I., Killer Mike, Bonecrusher, YoungBloodz and Lil Jon (I definitely couldn't forget that dude). Houstan had UGK, Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, Mike Jones and Paul Wall. Louisiana had Lil Wayne (of course), Lil Boosie, Webbie, and Hurricane Chris.

So with the regions that are not in the mainstream it isn't due to a lack of talent but a lack of unity. I bet that if there were 5 very good artists from Montana got together they would make the industry pay attention to them. So the only reason I bought this whole issue up is because when you are an unsigned or independent artist you shouldn't be beefing with somebody from the same area you are from especially when its over something stupid, when you could easily uplift the other artists in your region and make something special happen together. So really lets not be like crabs and be truly great artists in this tough music industry. Lets Get It!!!!
