What do both VA Comic Cons @vacomicon @twcomicon Have In Common?

VA is known for music rappers,singers, producers such as Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Timbaland, Missy, Pharrell & countless others. What VA also has is avid comic fans who come to events such as Richmond's VA Comicon and Virginia Beach's Tidewater Comicon where fanboys and fangirls cosplay dressing as their favorite comic, movie, video game and pop culture movie and cartoon characters. Last year, I finally got the chance to attend a comic con. Both events featured notable writers and artists who have worked with companies like Marvel, DC, Image, Valiant, and several other well known and also independent comic book companies. These events aren't as popular such as San Diego Comicon or New York Comicon which is known for breaking new movie trailers, TV, and media entertainment premieres and press conferences.


Tidewater Comicon is held yearly in month of May at the Virginia Beach Convocation Center sponsored by Video Game Heaven. Last years event featured the former cast of SyFy's Being Human (cast Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath, & Sam Huntington), Scorpian King/X-Men 2/Arrow actress Kelly Hu, & Heroes of Cosplay cast member Chloe Dykstra, several guest artists such as Chad Hardin- artist for DC Comic's the New 52 Harley Quinn series, Fabian Nicieza- most notable artist who drew Marvel's New Mutants & X-Force, Kevin Maguire- artist for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, artist Jerry Gaylord, artist Jeff Hewitt, artist Matt Slay, David (D.Clarence)Snyder- writer of the Tick comic book & also memorably for myself & Cool V we met artist, founder & creator Jabaar L. Brown of Undergrond Comixxx & Revolution Comics Magazine which series Soul & The Protectors of Sector 5 which has actors like Wesley Snipes & Michael Jai White both taking interest & being featured as characters in the comic series. This year's event promises to have guests 1990's Flash TV show star John Wesley Shipp, Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters/Ghostbusters 2), artist Jae Lee, artist Zombie King Arthur Sudham, voice actor Steve Blum, DC Comics writer Steve Orlando, Yellow Power Ranger Karan Ashley, Marvel colourist/cover artist June Chung, illustrator Mike Zeck, DC Comic's Harley Quinn artist Sorah Suhng and more (SEE HERE FOR THE FULL GUEST ROSTER). VA Comicon is held three times a year at the Virginia Richmond Raceway whereas Tidewater Comicon is only once per year. I'm hopeful to say this year will be my first coverage and second comicon this year.
